Hidden Geographies: Undergraduates Writing to Transgress
The University of Toronto Undergraduate Journal of Geography
| 30 April 2009 We are delighted to present the Spring 2009 edition of Hidden Geographies: Undergraduates Writing to Transgress. We are proud to showcase these chosen articles and authors, who range from first-year undergraduate students to those in their senior year. After the double success of the Fall/Winter 2008 issue and the first “Mini-Conference”, we are honoured to announce that we now are receiving an overwhelming number of thought-provoking and highly interesting manuscripts. Thought it was difficult to select which ones should go into this issue, we agree that the chosen manuscripts reflect both environmental and human geography in relation to a common theme of the city. Each of the authors should be commended for their diligence in all stages of the research process (i.e. researching, writing, and revising). We also would like our readers to know that the next “Mini-Conference” will be in September 2009. Authors from this issue as well as those from the next issue will be invited to present their papers in front of fellow students and faculty members. Afterwards, there will be a panel discussion on the Graduate School Application Process. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about the selection process. If there are special themes that you would like covered at this conference, please send us an email at hiddengeographies@gmail.com. We hope to see YOU there! 22 April 2009 Hidden Geographies: Peer-Reviewers and Associate Editors Wanted! |
| January 2009 EDITORS-IN-CHIEF KATIE PALMER AND SALLY TURNER WRITE: We are extremely proud to present the very first issue of Hidden Geographies: Undergraduates Writing to Transgress. As a testament to the diversity and ingenuity of the University of Toronto’s undergraduate geography students, our first issue showcases a wide range of excellent papers on topics from diamonds to the suburbs! We hope that you enjoy reading them as much as we did, and that they inspire you to explore equally diverse topics in your own courses this semester. We would like to thank each of our contributors who kindly let us publish their articles, and worked diligently to meet every necessary deadline! We also would like to thank our hardworking undergraduate editors who provided valuable feedback every step of the way. Last but certainly not least, we would like to express our appreciation to all the graduate students and faculty members who have helped make this first publication possible. We hope that the articles inspire you to further your geographical studies, and perhaps consider sending us some of your work for a future issue.
